Bird of the year

The kukupa live in the forests especially in puriri trees and feed of the berries. They also eat leaves and buds. They have blue and green feathers and a white breast.they also have a small red beak. They also have red eyes and feet.

I got this pitcher from the SLJ site.

  1. Kia Ora Ariana,

They are beautiful birds, aren’t they! I love how you can hear them flying from tree to tree. Do you see many Kererus in your garden at home? My house in Auckland has a very small garden so native birds don’t really visit, but I see some Kereru at the nearby park sometimes! Are they your favourite native bird?

    Blog ya later!

  2. Hi Dani they are really beautiful birds. No if don't see any in my garden but at my nanas house in her berry tree one comes every now and again. We see lots of Kererus at school because it is our school bird. If we are lucky it might come and sit by us and try and get some bread from our sandwich at school when we have lunch and morning tea and sits on our school roof sometimes.

    1. Kia Ora Ariana, I'm sure they love getting berries off the tree at your nanas house. They sound like some very sneaky birds trying to get your lunch! Are you excited to go back to school?

  3. Hi there Ariana,
That is a truly beautiful bird that has endless flaws and so many amazing powers, like dazzling people with their red eyes. I think you've chosen an amazing bird for this. The Kukupa is one of my favourite birds because it is like a pigeon model. It also has an amazing red beak, as you said, and strange red eyes. I like how you said they eat berries and live in forests because many people mistaken that.

Make sure next time you check your work and fix up spelling and grammar issues ( as picture is spelt wrong).

  4. Hi Ariana,
Well done on finishing this activity. I think that your facts about the Kukupa are great. You described what they look like and what they eat really well. Do you know where in New Zealand they live? Keep up the excellent work.
