Compatible Numbers

 

Kia ora

We have been learning about how to use Compatible Numbers. Compatible Numbers are any two numbers which add together to make a Tidy Number 

(a  number which ends in zero).  We had to choose two Compatible Numbers and another number. Then we had to think of a word problem which used our numbers and give the problem to a buddy to solve. Mrs Ogle, our maths facilitator, said this is called 'posing problems'.

Measurement -Head and Foot.

This week we have been working on Measurement.We had to measure our maths group foot and head.The day after we had to make a graph to see whose head was the biggest or we could chose to do our groups feet. I liked doing the head measurement the best .Here is my slide of my groups head and feet.

X tables

Kia ora,
This term Team Moana have been learning  our x tables. Here are the x tables I do not know. Nines, eights and sevens. I know all my twos all my fives all my 10 all my 3 and fours and all my sixs. I need to learn more x tables about the Nines, eights and sevens.

Arianas clock Maths Term 2

Kia ora,

Today I have made a slide about telling the time on an anlouge clock. But I did not know how to tell the time on an analogue clock. Mrs A made a hangout and we had a lesson and 10 minutes later I knew how to tell the time. I liked doing it because I knew how to do it and I was on a roll. I did not like it when I did not know how to tell the time and it made it hader for me because I did not know how to tell the time. Here is the slide that I did once I knew how to tell the time..

Mixed-ability Maths

Kia ora,

For our first term we have been doing some mixed-ability maths groups. 

What I liked about mixed-ability groups is that it helps us with our maths and that with the groups it can help us make more connections from other people in maths.

What I enjoyed about mixed-ability groups is that when we work together we can accomplish lot more than we think we can. 

What I thought was difficult was when we had to change groups because you would not know who would be in your group.

I really like working in mixed- ability groups. I liked it a lot it was fun. We got to learn about more maths.

Overall, I think that when we do more mixed-ability groups I think that we will be more on to it.

Ariana's Maths Understanding Term 1

 My name is Ariana. For this week we have been doing addition problems. We were learning how to turn a tricky addition problem into an easier one by using equal adjustments. This strategy helps you change the numbers from tricky numbers to tidy numbers and then it is easier to add them. 
I thought it was hard trying to answer the thousands questions. 
I thought it was easy trying to answer the hundreds problems.
For some of the problems, I had to use place value partitioning as well to get the answers.

Figure Me Out

Hi this week we did a Figure Me Out. In this activity we had to make up questions using maths equations. We made one on paper and that was a practice sheet and when we finished our one on the paper the teacher checked it then they said time to do one on the Chromebooks so then we did one here. This is my Figure me out.

I learnt how to do maths equations. I liked doing it and making a draw. I found it hard typing it. I need to work on moving faster and don't talk to my friends.

Telling the time.

We have been learning to tell the time. I know how to tell the time in o,cock and half past. I'm working on quarter to and quarter past. Here is my work that I did on telling the time and I hope you like it..

Vaseline saucer

Team Awa made some Vaseline saucers. Symmetrical  means that it has to be the same on the both sides. If I put in on the left then I will have to put one on the right. I liked that I have all sorts of colours. I used flowers and ferns in the middle. What I did well was the colours and the symmetry. Here is my Vaseline saucer.

Basic Facts test Term 3

Here is my Basic Facts for Stage 5 for the end of Term. I got 38 out of 60. I am good at making 100. I need to work on making 1000. Here is my Stage 5 test.  

Weights.

This week we have been learning about measuring

I made a draw to show my understanding of mass.

Fractions

We have been learning about fractions. I have made a paper sheet  about what I know about fractions.
Each piece has to be the same size but that was hard to do when I was drawing them.

Multiplication and Division

We have been working on understanding multiplication and division. We are learning to read word problems and answer them by showing our working and the answer we got.

Measuremet

For math we have learnt about measurement. I learnt about Finding Perimeter. I have created a video to explain about how to find the perimeter of a shape.

Fractions

We have been leaning about fractions in maths. A fraction is when you split a shape into equal parts such as split your shape in half. A fraction can be part of a number.
Here is my fractions assessment.

paper spinner

We made paper spinners for maths. We had to use our fraction and shape knowledge to help us fold our spinner. We decorated our spinner with patterns and colours. We battled our spinner with a friend. My spinner worked well. I need to add more colours to it.

Reflect, Rotate and Translate
