SLJ North and South Island Wk 1

My hometown is Kaikohe. Kaikohe is the Hub of the North. It is rich in History. There is memorial for Hone Heke up Monument Road. There is a street named after my Poppa's family where their house use to be. The house is gone but the library and park is there now.My nana and poppa live in one of the oldest houses in KaikoheKaikohe has a Warehouse, McDonalds, two supermarkets, and lots of food shops. My favourite food shop is Cafe Malaahi, which is owned by my Aunty and some of my cousins work there.

Poems - Haiku and Acrostic

We have been writing poems about Christmas. Here are my haiku and acrostic poems.

Sun
Under a Pohutukawa tree by the beach
Merry Christmas
Mistletoe in the sand
Excited to go to the beach
Reindeer on the frozen cold snow

Happy holidays
On the beach opening gifts
Lollies and eating baking
In the sea at the beach having fun.
Day going past really fast
Always going to see your cousins
You have a fun time in the holidays with your family.
Sunshine

Santa eating cookies
Now having fun
On the sand playing
Water splashing everywhere
Being in the hot sand
Eating lunch in the sand
Always having fun
Chucking sand everywhere
Having an awesome time in the sea

Rudolph the red nosed reindeer
Eating cake and cookies
In the nice cold sea
Never be naughty
Dear Santa, I love you
Every year Christmas comes
Every year Santa comes to give you presents
Rudolph is the best

Being caring and nice.
It’s the best day of my life
Running around on birthdays
This day is fun.
Having fun with friends
Day going past really fast
Always having fun when your family comes over
Yay, it is my cousin's birthday

ARIANA IS THE BEST

Pirate Coding

Today we have been learning how to code. First we coded a pirate to get to the treasure without getting bombed. Then we made up our own coding grid. Have a look at my slideshow to see my coding from today.

Reading

Here is a screencastafiy of me reading a poem. We need to read clearly, with good pace, fluency and expression.
In reading I am good at reading with expression. I can sometimes read with good pace. But I need to remember to read always with good pace.

I need to work on when we are at the questions I need to remember what I have read.

Here are the questions I answered about the poem. We need to answer in full sentences.
