Activity 1: The Waiata - A Song in Your Heart
I like this waiata because we sing it in Kapahaka and we sing it at my marae. It makes me think about my grandparents, aunties, uncles and great grandparents. It reminds me of my Papa Tass and Aunty Yvonne.
Bonus Activity: Musical Festivals – Matatini
My cousin Deyne performed in Matatini this year. She performed for Te Whanau-a-Apanui. They got into the finals. Here is a picture of her and her boyfriend in their kapahaka uniform.
I love listening to her sing and she is really good at doing the pukana.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Task 1 / Bonus Task
Today I read a short story about a famous man in Māori mythology – Maui.
Here is three facts that Ilearned about this interesting man.
Maui was sneaky because he snuck onto the waka.
Maui is a great fisherman.
He never stopped trying.
Other stories I have heard with Maui in it:
Maui and the Sun - Maui pushed the sun up into the sky.
How Maui slowed the sun
Maui is on the movie Moana.
BONUS TASK - Waka Ama
I wouldn't like to do Waka Ama because it looks hard.
My dad did Waka Ama when he was young and competed for New Zealand in Fiji.

no girls allowed
During the ancient Olympic Games, men were allowed to compete in the events but women were not. In fact, women were often forbidden from even watching the games. In your opinion, is this a fair rule? Why or why not? On your blog please tell us what you think about this interesting rule.
I think this is not a fair rule. Women should be allowed in the Olympics.
It is mean because girl's wont be allowed to watch the games in the Olympics. Anyone should be able to watch the games and cheer for their country.
Women are just as good as men. Everyone can play sports.

Silly sentences
We have been learning how to write correct sentences.
A sentence makes sense on it's own and usually has one simple idea or piece of information.
A simple sentence needs a subject and a verb. It needs a capital letter and full stop.
We wrote silly sentences then chose our favourite one to illustrate.

Holiday Recount
Here is my recount about the Holiday.
Touch a Truck Show
Bang! Crash! The grader went. We went to the touch a truck show at Hurapaki school in Whangarei. When JJ turned up Haki and I got a sherbet ice cream. Then we watched the fire demonstration. It was cool. They put the oil fire out with water. Never put water on the stove fire because it will go everywhere. You use a pot lid as that’s how you put out a fire. Then we had lunch then we went home.
